London, United Kingdom - 14 July 2026
SmartResilience, the climate risk software company helping organisations manage and reduce climate-related physical risk, today announced that Joanna Gluzman-Laukkanen has joined the company as Strategic ESG Advisor.
Joanna brings more than 20 years of senior leadership across FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 global companies, spanning ESG, sustainability, social impact, board advisory and investor relations. Most recently she was Director of Responsible Business at B&Q, the UK's leading home improvement retailer and part of Kingfisher plc, where she led the company's responsible business strategy and sustainability agenda. Prior to that, she served as Chief Sustainability Officer at PZ Cussons, the FTSE 250 global FMCG company with operations across Europe, Africa and Asia, and before that as Global Director of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility for Avon Worldwide.
She began her career at BT Group, where she held several senior leadership roles, culminating as Group Director of ESG. In that role she worked directly with the global financial industry, institutional investors and analysts to help shape responsible investing principles - giving her an unusually close understanding of how sustainability strategy translates into financial risk, capital allocation and long-term value creation.
Throughout her career, Joanna has championed the idea that ESG should drive commerciality, resilience and longevity - not simply disclosure obligations. Her appointment reinforces SmartResilience's ambition to help organisations translate physical climate risk into clear, board-level and investor-facing narratives, connecting science-based risk assessment with the commercial decisions that follow.
Harish Pesala, CEO and Founder of SmartResilience, said:
"Joanna has spent more than two decades at the intersection of sustainability and business performance inside some of the world's best-known companies - and she has always asked the hardest question: does this drive value? That is exactly the question our customers need to answer when it comes to physical climate risk. Her ability to connect rigorous ESG thinking with commercial outcomes, and to communicate that to boards and investors, makes her an exceptional addition to the SmartResilience advisory team."
Joanna Gluzman-Laukkanen said:
"Climate Resilience is one of the most underappreciated drivers of long-term business value - and most organisations are only just beginning to understand what it means for their operations, their supply chains and their balance sheets. SmartResilience is tackling that challenge head on, with science-backed projections that allow businesses to plan for resilience across short, medium and long timescales. I'm a strong advocate for purposeful, innovative businesses that build a better world for future generations - and this is exactly the kind of company I want to support."
