London, United Kingdom - 8 October 2026

National Wealth Fund (NWF) has awarded SmartResilience, the climate risk management software company, a contract to provide climate physical risk assessment services. The award followed an open competition, and the contract began on 30 July 2026. It runs for 12 months, with an option to extend to July 2028.

NWF will use the SmartResilience platform to identify, assess and quantify acute and chronic physical climate risks across its investment portfolio, at asset, transaction and portfolio level. The contract also covers onboarding, user support, training and knowledge transfer, so that NWF’s teams can operate and interpret the platform independently.

Harish Pesala, CEO and Founder of SmartResilience, said:

“We are proud that National Wealth Fund has chosen SmartResilience to support its assessment of physical climate risk. NWF asked for a transparent, auditable methodology that their team could take over and run independently. Those are the standards we hold ourselves to with every client."

Why is physical climate risk now an investment question?

Physical climate risk now reaches the people who decide where capital goes, not only sustainability teams and insurers. S&P Global Sustainable estimates that physical climate risk will cost the global economy $1.2 trillion a year by the 2050s, and that cost falls on the assets that investors, lenders and public bodies fund and hold.

For an organisation with a large portfolio, the practical questions are specific. Which assets are exposed to flooding, heat or wind? What would a loss cost in financial terms? Which investments carry more risk than the original case assumed? Teams that answer these across a whole portfolio need one consistent method, applied to every asset at the same standard.

Institutions that answer to boards, ministers and auditors also need to show their work. Decision-makers can rely on a risk figure only when they can trace the data sources, assumptions and limitations behind it. NWF’s tender asked for exactly this: a transparent and auditable methodology, documented sources, and alignment with public sector governance and data security expectations. NWF published the contract details notice on the UK government’s Find a Tender service under reference 2026/S 000-079058.
