London, United Kingdom - 14 July 2026
SmartResilience, the climate risk software company helping organisations manage and reduce climate-related physical risk, today announced that Jonathan Horrell has joined the company as a Commercial Advisor for the Food & Beverage sector.
Jonathan brings more than three decades of senior sustainability and corporate affairs experience across FTSE-100 and Fortune 500 businesses in the food, industrial and non-profit sectors. He joins SmartResilience following his retirement from full-time work in May 2026, most recently as Group Head of Sustainability at Weir Group, the FTSE-100 mining technology business. There he led the company’s sustainability strategy, including transition planning, TCFD and CDP reporting, and the delivery of Science Based Targets approved in March 2023.
Earlier in his career, Jonathan was Global Director of Sustainability for Mondelēz International (formerly Kraft Foods), responsible for the company’s strategic sustainability priorities across the value chain from agricultural sourcing to post-consumer waste, and served on the Board of Governors of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). He also held the role of Kraft’s Corporate Affairs Director for the UK and Ireland during a period that included the acquisition of Cadbury, and led communications across the de-regulated UK dairy industry at Milk Marque. His connection to food runs deep, having grown up on his family’s dairy farm and cheesemaking business in Cornwall.
His appointment reinforces SmartResilience’s growing focus on the food and beverage supply chain, where the company works with organisations such as Sainsbury’s and Meadow Foods to build resilience to flooding, extreme weather and other physical climate risks across their estates and supply chains.
Harish Pesala, CEO and Founder of SmartResilience, said:
“Jonathan is one of the most respected sustainability leaders in the food and industrial sectors, and his experience scaling strategy inside global blue-chip businesses is exactly what our customers need as they confront the physical impacts of climate change. His deep roots in food, from the farm in Cornwall to the boardroom at Mondelēz, give him a rare perspective on how resilience translates across an entire supply chain. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Jonathan Horrell said:
“Climate adaptation is fast becoming a commercial imperative for food and beverage businesses, not just a reporting exercise. SmartResilience is solving a real problem — giving companies the foresight to protect their operations and and build resilient supply chains as climate risk continues to escalate across short, medium and long-term horizons. I’m excited to support Harish and the team as they grow.”
